Jayshree Ramachandran OAM  was honoured with the award of the MEDAL OF THE ORDER OF AUSTRALIA (OAM)  in the Queens Honour in 2019, for services to the performing arts through Indian music and dance . The Order of Australia is the pre-eminent means by which Australia recognises the outstanding and meritorious service of its citizens.

Jayshree was initiated into music by her late mother Smt. Mangalam Muthuswamy, a distinguished Veena player of international repute from Mumbai.Her Gurus Shri S Ramachandran and Mrs T.R. Balamani are teachers of international repute. Jayshree considers herself indeed fortunate to have been under their tutelage and guidance, which has given her the sound foundation to be the musician of a high calibre that she is today. Jayshree honed her skills further when she had the privilege of advanced training from Late Sangeeta Kalanidhi Sri K.V.Narayanaswamy. Jayshree is the President of FIMDV- Federation Of Indian Music and Dance an umbrella body of 23 Arts organisations of Melbourne.

Jayshree established her Music School Sapthaswara in 1991 and has tutored over 500 students to date.
